The Cloister Bell

Inane observations, incoherent mutterings, and random half-crazed rantings, direct from your host, wanted or not. Oh, and the occasional update, too.

Just a real quick update, just on the off chance that somebody out there noticed that there hasn’t been anything new posted to the site in the past week and a half, and cared enough to wonder why.

Short story even shorter, I’m trapped in the land offline due to local telephone lines being dug up, with no clear indication when service will be restored. And for reasons too boring to go into here, accessing the internet and updating the blog via other means has proven to be rather problematic and unreliable. For whom does the Cloister Bell toll? It tolls for thee, apparently.

Not exactly sure when I’ll be back online and at full working order, could even be another couple of weeks, though I’m hoping it won’t be quite that long. Which probably means it’ll be even longer. Either way, when I am back I should be able to fill in the gaps with at least two new Big Finish reviews, and a new editorial, this one on the immortal Patrick Troughton. So, that’s either something to look forward to, or yet another reason to hope I never get back online.

And to anyone out there who is actually interested enough to be reading this update, I sincerely thank you for your patronage. Feel free to leave a comment or drop an email sometime, companions on the journey are always welcome.

UPDATE – 31st of March, 2013

Crisis over, finally. After far longer than expected and hoped for, and I get to escape the harsh reality of the real world and slither back online, bringing with me with two reviews and three features, that should all pop up on the site over the course of the next couple of weeks. If anyone is still out there and interested, I thank you for both your patience and your patronage.

Just in time for the return of new Doctor Who episodes on TV as well. Funny how things work out sometimes.

I was asked today just how often updates to this blog could be expected.

This was amazing for two reasons. One, I didn’t think anyone was actually reading it yet, or, potentially, ever. And two, it turned out that somebody was, and not only that, actually seemed to want more. Thank god for crazy people.

Anyway, that started me thinking. Which is a process that tends to be both rare, and potentially dangerous. The end result of which was that I have now have a headache, a three legged cat, and an absolute belief that trilbies are cool. Oh, and I have also come up with the following schedule. One that I feel I should be able to meet. Probably. All things being mathematically comparative.

The plan, as it stands, is to do one new audio review per week, every week, from now through to the end of November.

Now I know that doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but worth it or not, these things take me longer than I care to admit, and this one per week schedule is something that I should be able to reliably maintain.

In truth, I actually hope to do more than that, however real life can get in the way, so rather than promise something that I later can’t deliver, I’ll simply say that you can fully expect a new Big Finish review every week, and hopefully, most weeks, some additional content in addition to that. But one review a week is the baseline here, anything else is just the watered down gravy on top. Or proof of my growing OCD. Or both.

Not much more to say, other than I hope to see you all (can one person be an all?) next week, when I try to explain that the dog really did eat my blog-work…
